Old sports car in perspective!

Last assignment before the end of the semester. We had to choose a car (I chose an old 1930's sports car), find its 2D design plans and make those 2D plans into 3D two point perspective. I had a lot of fun making this actually! I'm getting a lot more familiarized with Adobe Illustrator and it brings me back to old times in high school when we built structures in AutoCAD.

Here is my final illustration and the car's 2D plans used to create it are below.

Ancient Temple in Perspective

Here is an assignment where we had to make an ancient temple in perspective and illustrate it with line work only. I chose to make the temple with 3 point perspective and give it a serpent theme.

Starting with a floor plan the temple is crafted into something 3D using a perspective grid.

Then it's put into an illustration below.

Card Art!

Had to make an illustration for a game card as a last assignment in my Visual Dynamics course so I chose to make a World of Warcraft themed card. The card features two Orcs who represted the Horde faction. I learned a lot about lighting and colour on this piece however I still feel its lacking a bit in the composition and refinement!

Bog Creature!

This is what I made for a bog creature after a few weeks of refinement! Tried my best at making it an interesting composition and I learned a lot about lighting and shadow with this piece. Again, I had a lot of fun painting it and pretty happy with the result. Don't ask me what it is! Aha.

SPACE RACE - A modified board game!

For our Media Art class we had to take the board game "Candyland" (played that a TON when I was a kid) and re design all the art so it was a completely different theme. The subject matter was completely up to us so I chose to make it a space/sci-fi theme!

I'm pretty happy with how it turned out and I had a lot of fun making all the assets. Below you can see the box art, game board, game cards and game pieces!

Summer Illustration Magazine Cover

Had to create a magazine cover where the theme was summer time. The lands are currently covered in snow! It is cold and not very inspiring. I immediately thought of what I don't have and that is warm sun and tasty barbecue! That's some pretty simple subject matter. Anyways, I think more than anything else I just wanted to paint something in the style of J.C. Leyendecker whose art I find incredibly inspiring. In that respect I think that I was only semi successful. I got some good feed back and I realize that if I want to make this more J.C. I have to have more dynamic clothes (folds and drama!) as well as even more brush strokes!

In the end I had a good time painting this. There will definitely be more Leyendecker studies in the future.

Dancing with forks and knives!

Some dancing forks and knives for an anthropomorphic character assignment!
They're supposed to be for a children's 2D animated series so its pretty simple stuff and will be part of a larger assignment later on.

Pens and Pixels Art Contest

An illustration I made for the Pens and Pixels fantasy/sci-fi art contest. Tried my hand at a comic book style which I am really into at the moment. This one is called "Only One Way Out".

Just some old weather worn stairs.

Stairs made in illustrator and then drawn over in PS cc.

Studying Character Emotion in Faces

Recently I read a graphic novel called Black Science and it was full of
beautifully illustrated art by Matteo Scalera. It inspired me to look
into his character's faces and emotions because Matteo simplifies them in
a way that they are incredibly dramatic but are made up of only
basic and exaggerated shapes! Putting the "real" in unreal.

Definitely more to come!

Alvin Lee Street Fight Cell Shading

Finished up cell shading artwork by Alvin Lee! I tried to give them the more traditional Street Fighter colours and I'm pretty happy with the results - it was fun to do!

Cubist hands

Experimenting with cubism for an interpretive illustration class.

"Cubism is an early-20th-century avante garde art movement pioneered by Georges Braque and Pablo Picasso... that revolutionized European painting and sculpture, and inspired relate movements in music, literature and architecture."

Pretty neat and weird style. Here is what I did just messing around with a golden hand:

Some friend's of mine asked me to design a logo and album cover for their
black metal project ! It was a good time and I'm prety happy with

Boxes and perspective

Diving into Adobe Illustrator for the first time. Not much room to be creative with these and they were... a little tedious! Necessary, but glad they're behind me!

Learning about cell shading

Work in progress. Using cell shading to colour a line drawing by Alvin Lee. Really lucky that he allowed us to use his work for school. Such outstanding line work!

Alvin Lee's incredible line work lent to us:

Laying in the colour. I'll post the completed work when I add the light and shadow later down the road. Lots more to do!

Its worth your time to check this guy's work: ALVIN LEE

Value, Shape and Line

Just some pixelated studies, why not?

Some paintings by John Singer Sargent reduced to just 4 values.

Hell On Wheels Lego??

Caricature!

A quick caricature of the late Marty Feldman! Line work only.

Here is one of his skits:

Musical Painting

Just some quick-random paintings to classical music. Trying to experiment translating mood to colour! Each one was a different piece by Mozart!
